Just a quick update from La Gomera with both Tom & I having arrived in fine form & have since prepared the boat ready to be craned into the harbour at around 4.30pm today. Of course this is all subject to Spanish timekeeping, which means that we should be in before it gets dark!!
We spent the first few days doing final preparations on the boat, repacking some of our food & generally stowing everything away. The boat past safety scrutiny straight away, so no surprises there & we´ll be attending a medical briefing this afternoon before the boat goes in the water. Always a good thing to know what all those medical supplies are for that are filling our forward cabin. Hopefully though we won´t need to use any of the serious stuff this time round.
I´ll get some photos loaded up onto the site hopefully tomorrow so you can all see how things look out here. At the moment we´re enjoying lovely sunshine (sorry, I hear it´s dire in the UK) but there is a strong possibility that the race start may be delayed due to a storm coming in. We´ll know more in a day or so if it´s due to come in earlier or later. We also have a race stopping problem over the shipment of all the race entrant´s flares ...... they haven´t arrived due to various reasons, none of them down to Woodvale the race organisers, who are doing everything in their power to get more out here.
Anyway I´ll give you an update on those two issues tomorrow, until then its .....
